Peg Perego Cub Cadet Pedal Tractor

Peg Perego Cub Cadet Pedal Tractor Review

We bought this for my 2 year old son for his birthday 14 months ago. He rides it every change he gets, whether it's on the grass, the concrete, the mulched beds, or up camping in the dirt. The ability to change the speeds was a great way for him to get started, and now he rides it in the high gear all the time. There is plenty of battery and it recharges quickly. He is pretty rough on it and certainly puts it through everything he can think of and it just keeps on going. The trailer is great, though he doesn't put much in it - other than his little brother, who weighs 25#. I wouldn't recommend really heavy items in the trailer all the time, but he can put balls and sticks in it without an issue. Just a great toy, and it's been a lot of fun for him. We have yet to find somewhere it won't go, including up and down hills.
I highly recommend this toy. When his legs were too short to reach the gas pedal, we zip-tied a block on the top of the pedal so he could reach it....

Fisher-Price Dora Lil Quad

Fisher-Price Dora Lil Quad Review

I bought this for my daughter last year at Christmas. The age limit was 12-36 months. My daughter was 14 months at the time. She wasn't ready for it yet. She couldn't steer it and the button was hard to hold and steer at the same time. She is now two and she rides it all over the place. I don't think it was a waste of money, but I probably would have waited to get it if I had known that she wouldn't have been interested in it right away. Overall, a great product...I just don't know if a 12 month old is able to do it.

Razor PowerWing Caster Scooter (Silver)

Razor PowerWing Caster Scooter (Silver) Review

I purchased this Powerwing, and the the pink one both for Christmas for my 5 year old son, and 4 year old daughter. I was pretty sure my son would get the hang of it pretty easily, but was not sure if my soon to be 4 year old daughter would be able to do it. Well, my worries disappeared the minute she hopped on it! It was like she instinctivly knew what to do. She was scooting all over the house Christmas morning no problem ( we have lots of tile in our house) When we took them out side, both my kids were scooting up and the side walk with ease! It looked like so much fun, I just had to try it for my self. I loved it! I wish that Razor made a powerwing for adults! The weight limit says 140 on the box (I'm about 160, and my husband about 185) but I hopped on anyway because it seemed pretty sturdy. Although when I do ride on it, I try to only use my son's powerwing because for some reason, the pink one's foot plates are made of plastic rather than metal like my sons black one.

My final thought is that it was well worth the money, and Im glad i got it from amazon, because ToysRus and other retailers were charging -50 more!

Your kids wont be disappointed!

Fisher-Price Diego Lil' Quad

Fisher-Price Diego Lil' Quad Review

So, we bought this for my first son when he was 18 months old -- we didn't buy this exact one, we bought the regular Green/Yellow one that was available, but they're all pretty much the same.

We didn't think much of it, just something fun to have in the yard for a boy who has never been interested in t.v. and always wants to be outside. Not much power, but enough for a 18 month old. At first, we were unhappy that it couldn't make it up our slight incline of a front yard. The traction of the hard wheels make for slippery driving when the grass was wet. My husband screwed some screws into the tires for extra traction, was a quick remedy using just household items. Since then, my son has learned to steer and to whip it around. He has outgrown this one and we're moving up to a 16v.

The one thing we are truly amazed at is how durable this thing is. My son uses it everytime we go outside and we never bring it inside, except to charge. This Lil' Quad has been out in the elements (rain, show, wind, etc) and is still working wonderfully! I can't believe it will last for our next son! What a great buy!

Fisher-Price® Power Wheels Barbie Ford Mustang

Fisher-Price® Power Wheels Barbie Ford Mustang Review

Before I start: If you decide to purchase this toy, buy it from another vendor. At the time of this writing Amazon is selling it for nearly twice what virtually every other vendor is selling it for. A little shopping around will greatly increase your savings! With that in mind...

The Power Wheels toys are all largely the same in dimensions and capabilities, differing largely on simple aesthetics. Whether it's a Mustang or a Jeep or an Escalade or whatever, they all largely do the same thing in the same manner so really this review could apply to just about all Power Wheels toys.

In a nutshell, this one arrives in BRIGHT Barbie Pink (naturally) and features two forward speeds, one reverse speed, a horn, a radio, and a battery life indicator. Two bucket seats will easily accomodate two toddler-sized children without cramping or elbow fighting. My two year old daughter is BARELY able to reach the pedal; although I know it's not sanctioned by Fisher-Price, I velcro'ed a 2" thick wooden block to the top of the pedal which allows my daughter to reach it more easily.

Assembly isn't terribly difficult but does require a bit of direction-following. As so many things are, "some assembly is required." Armed with a Philips-head screwdriver, a comfortable workspace and a little help from your fellow parent it shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes to fully assemble the vehicle. IMPORTANT TIP FOR PARENTS: Even if you're planning to assemble the car after you present it to your child, remove the battery and charger from the box and charge it up overnight so that, when the car is fully assembled, your child can immediately drive it.

The car has two forward speeds and one reverse, selected by a console-mounted shift lever. Out of the box the "high" forward speed is locked out. Mommy or daddy needs to do a little 'under the hood' tinkering to remove the lock-out, a process which takes less than a minute to complete. This is done as a safety measure, particularly for younger children who may get scared over the faster speed or simply are still learning how to control the car. In "low" speed the car moves at a casual walking pace, while in "high" speed it's more like a brisk walking pace. Reverse is in "low" speed but, of course, backwards.

I found that, even at "low" speed, the car has a tendency to burn rubber (plastic) when only my daughter is in it. On simple asphalt the rear tires easily spin three or four times before gaining traction. On grass it gains traction a lot sooner but there's still at least one wheel spin. With a second child in the car this traction issue goes away; since my daughter is a year under Fisher-Price's recommended minimum age I'm sure this issue will resolve itself once my daughter grows and gains weight.

It's important to note that, like all Power Wheels, the motor is either fully-on or fully-off. It's not like a real car where you can feather the throttle for variable speed. Either the car is in full motion (traction and gravity notwithstanding), or it's not.

Steering is limited with a very wide turning radius - about 18 feet, which is almost as wide as a two-car driveway. It is therefore fairly certain that your child will, at some point, run into a situation where he/she will need to either learn to drive in reverse or get out of the car and push it until it faces the right direction.

The body is reasonably stable so far as these toys go. The hood opens to reveal the battery; the doors and trunk lid do NOT open. My daughter had a little bit of difficulty climbing into and out of the car; a three year old will likely not have such difficulty. I expected the doors to remain closed to provide some safety to the child but I was surprised to find that the trunk didn't provide even a little bit of storage space for, say, a box of chalk or a small snack.

The hard plastic seats are a surprisingly attractive tan color with chrome Mustang accents. Also surprising was the discovery that the seats can be moved fore/aft relatively easily by removing and relocating a couple of screws. Seatbelts are on both seats, consisting of pink Velcro strips that accomodate virtually all child sizes. The windshield is opaque but that doesn't matter since your child will be looking over the top of it rather than through it.

A dashboard-mounted battery gauge shows battery life via four LEDs, activated by pushing a button next to the gauge. Simple and effective for what it does.

The 'radio' has two buttons positioned where knobs would be on a real car stereo, and is powered by three AA batteries (not included, naturally). The left button inexplicably beeps the car's horn. (Has anyone discovered a car horn that beeps when you push the left knob of your stereo?) The right button cycles through about a half dozen instrumental song clips, each about 30 seconds and each more annoying (to adult ears) than the last. In this day and age when you can buy a half-gig MP3 player for under I would have liked the ability to upload my daughter's favorite songs to the radio.

One thing which I've noticed about all Power Wheels toys: None of them have a simple on/off switch. My concern - so far unwarranted, but still a concern nonetheless - is that my daughter will be climbing into the car and accidentally tap the accelerator pedal before she's securely in her seat, and thus cause her to fall backwards (or forwards) and injure herself. It continues to surprise me that Fisher-Price doesn't include a simple cut-off switch on the dashboard to control power.

Power Wheels vehicles have long had a good reputation and rank very high on the "I WANT" meter for kids toys. (I remember DESPERATELY wanting one when I was a kid, 35 years ago...) Even though my daughter is still too small to fully command her Power Wheels (the sudden acceleration startles her, and she doesn't understand how to steer) you can see the joy in her face even when she's just sitting in the car at a stand-still.

We purchased this for the holiday season for our 3 year old and I know already that we're going to get many years of use out of it! While this is a high end product price wise, it's really worth it as my daughter is 3 and I know from neighbours and friends that own Power Wheels toys that my daughter will be using this until she is at least 6 or 7, so that's a few years of use, which means good value for money! I can already picture it decorated for the 4th of july parade in the neighbourhood!

It does take a couple of hours to assemble and be warned, if you are giving it as a gift for the holidays, be prepared to charge it a good day before you present the gift.

Peg Perego Polaris 800 Twin Copper 24 V

Peg Perego Polaris 800 Twin Copper 24 V Review

We have owned Peg Perego and Fisher Price - all 12 volt batteries. This was our first 24-volt purchase. We purchased this one in April and received it at the end of April. It did take some time for shipping (2 weeks if I remember correctly), so if you are ordering for a specific date, keep that in mind. My intention in buying this product was to give my 5 yo son a vehicle to drive since his 8 yo brother can drive our real quad. I also wanted to encourage his independence since he has slight cerebral palsy - doing things for himself is invaluable. He has really taken to driving it and is very good about manuevering around everything. Reverse and the foot pedal have easy for him to use.

PROS:
First I'll start out by saying that my 5 year old is the primary one who rides this quad. He is a lightweight (about 4 lbs#, so the battery runs all day. His bigger #about 80 lbs# brother can ride it too with shorter battery life. I've ridden it too and I weigh about 130. I don't think the battery would work long, but it handled me just fine. AW, my 5 yo son loves, loves it. The happiness on his face is worth a lot. The extra speed #7 mph) is much more fun than the typical 5 mph, and my 5 yo can maneuver just fine. We won't go back to a 12 volt now.

CONS:
That being said, I do have some complaints. Building it wasn't the easiest experience mainly because the directions did not indicate which screw to use where. That led me to removing a few and replacing them with a different one...until I needed it somewhere else. Everything else was fairly easy to follow.

Another thing is the durability. The first day of riding, the flag broke, which made my 5 yo cry until I told him he had a flag to play with. Within the first week, a tab on the front grill broke, the red seat fastener came off and a tab on the front cover at the hand grips broke, making it hard for the cover to stay on as well. Now we do have two boys, and I'm sure that had something to do with it. However, it would be nice if the frills on these toys were built to handle some roughness because it is an outdoor, fun toy that is to be thoroughly played with. It still looks good, but I have had to rig things to stay on or just take it off completely. I just hope the rest of it stays together so that my little one can get a few years of fun and I can get the money's worth from it!

CONCLUSION:
Knowing what I know, if I had the choice, I'd buy it again, but definitely not at full price! I think I'd be sick if I had paid over 0 for it. If we do need to have it worked on, then we will have to travel to a city

Peg Perego Polaris 800 Twin Copper 24 V Feature

  • 3.5 - 7.5mph forward 3.5 mph
  • Electrical breaks for sure stops
  • Plus reverse

Power Wheels Lil' Quad

Power Wheels Lil' Quad Review

While I was trying to perform the daunting task of buying toys for a one year old, I saw another quad, and instantly knew my son would love one. Only that one was for 2 and up, and after shopping around, I quickly found that there are no quads specifically for ones--other than this one.

He rides this quad everyday. He's not even one and a half yet but has a good command of the toy. It doesn't brake, or have any mentionable turning radius, but he doesn't mind...its all about going forward for him. The quad is bluer live which was my only misgiving as this is obviously a boy gift. I'm sure I'll have to upgrade him eventually, but he is average size and the quad suits him perfectly. This was hands down the biggest hit this Christmas.

Power Wheels Lil' Quad Feature

  • Hop on and hit the trail Sporty ATV styling, built-in footrests, cute cargo rack on the back and awesome Barbie graphics
  • Designed especially for toddlers, with easy push-button operation for simple stop and go
  • Rides low, so it's easy for them to get on and off by themselves, too
  • Backed by Power Wheels 1 Year Limited Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty
  • This item is not for sale in Catalina Island

Power Wheels Lil' Quad Overview

Take your toddler for a test drive on the Lil' Quad. This sturdy and safe Power Wheels ATV has built-in footrests and a convenient cargo rack on the back for toting around toys. Designed especially for toddlers, the Lil' Quad rides low so it's easy for little ones to get on and off by themselves. Sturdy and fun to drive, this ride-on moves forward at 2 mph maximum. Use on hard surfaces and grass. Measures approximately 26.25" x 13" x 16.38". Requires 6V rechargeable battery and charger (both included).

Wheels Matchbox Power Scouts Skull Mountain Playset

Wheels Matchbox Power Scouts Skull Mountain Playset Review

Well, although they aren't stompers they are awful close. The playset itself is easy to put together and presents some pretty cool challenges. I would say it needs less lights and things that explode and more hills instead but it's not bad. The truck itself is awesome, my year and half old beats the piss out of it and it has not stopped yet. The body of the truck is the worst part, it just kinda flops around but the tap on/off idea is good. I was really surprised and how much you get for the price. These days you don't get much for ten bucks.

  • Sure to inspire loads of manipulative fun and imaginative play

Fisher-Price Power Wheels Ultimate Terrain Traction Jeep Hurricane

Fisher-Price Power Wheels Ultimate Terrain Traction Jeep Hurricane Review

We initially purchased a Peg-Perego, Gaucho Rock'In Jeep, we spend time assembling it, and the gear shift did not work, it would go forward but not backward, so we had to return it to the store it was purchased from. There we 3 others there that where returned, so I opted not to get another one, and instead by a different product all together.

We then bought this Jeep for our 3 and 5 year old girls, blue is their favorite color. I was hesitant to buy one before, due to safety concerns. They are now at an age where they can understand and have a good command of their turns. The love the Jeep! It Is big as others have mentioned, but it fits in the garage just fine w/ our 2 cars parked. I like that fact that the seats adjust as the kids grow, so you get more years of use. The girls love the radio. For fun my teenage sister even sits in it and drives it! I like that this allows you to set it to the lower gear until they are comfortable for the higher speed. Our girls have taken this over small hills, dirt, grass, sidewalk, gravel (no mud so far)

It runs great. We have not had any issues with it. It was a bit more pricier than some of the other jeeps, but I was concerned about durability and workmanship of the products, especially after our experience with the last jeep. This one seemed to have very favorable reviews, i preferred to pay a decent price and have a product that my third baby (on the way) can use, versus a jeep that would only work for a year or 2. For us this was a great purchase.

Just Like a Real Jeep!
Designed for children ages three to about six (65-pound maximum weight per passenger), the Power Wheels Jeep Hurricane looks just like a real Jeep! And it operates with a real steering wheel and a foot pedal. Powered by a rechargeable 12-volt battery, the Jeep can drive up to five miles per hour. The car is designed to travel at a max of 2.5 MPH at first, when your child is a beginning driver. When he or she becomes more experienced, just remove the safety mechanism to reach maximum speed! The vehicle also features a specially designed safety braking system, which automatically stops the vehicle when the foot is removed from the pedal. The jeep can also go in reverse at up to 2.5 MPH. The jeep includes features such as a simulated navigation system, cool sound effects, a digital clock, and a working "fuel gauge" that monitors battery level.

Ride in Style!
The jeep features lots of cool details that will have your child riding in style. He or she can pop some juice in the cup holder, turn up the real, working FM radio, and drive off to exciting adventures! There's room for a friend in the passenger seat, too (up to 65 pounds). The Jeep Hurricane also features the Power Wheels Ultimate Terrain Traction. With this advanced tire package, the truck can "off-road" into areas that others can't handle: It can drive over thick, wet grass, muddy areas, gravel, and other small backyard obstacles such as tree roots and garden hoses. This vehicle requires a 12-volt rechargeable battery designed specifically for this toy, which is included with your purchase, as well as a battery charger. It also requires four C batteries (not included) to operate the FM radio. This Power Wheels toy is covered by a limited 1-year "Bumper-to-Bumper" warranty from the manufacturer.

Power Wheels Ford Mustang

Power Wheels Ford Mustang Review

This is a very fun toy, and is quite durable and well-built. It is nice that it has room for two children. The one major drawback is the slick plastic wheels, which have very poor traction. On grass the car almost never gets going without an adult "shove" and it even slips quite a bit on concrete. I talked to other parents who have returned the car because of this problem. I have solved the problem by wrapping modified rubber bicycle tires around the wheels, but I don't feel that I should have had to do this. Our son doesn't weigh much, and traction may not be as big a problem with a heavier child. However, I do not recommend this if it will be driven in a yard and not on pavement unless you are willing to make the same wheel modifications.
